It is time for Laurelwood's Spelling Bee! All students in Grades 4-6 will take the written spelling bee test in their classes on Monday, December 16, 2019. Top finalists from the written bee will advance to the oral spelling bee on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 5:30pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. Our Fall Book Fair will be Dec 6th to Dec 13th. Come and help us raise $1,500 for new book purchases for the Library. The Book Fair will be open Before School, Lunch, and After School. As the first trimester comes to a close, every family needs to attend a conference with their child's teacher to discuss their areas of strength, growth and a plan for continued academic and social development. There is no school on Wednesday, November 20th, in order to allot the time necessary for teachers to meet with every family. Make sure you have your conference scheduled and let the teacher know if a translator is needed!

Parents, Guardians & Caretakers - these are the expectations for using the bus loop to drop off and pick up your child. 1. Right turns only into the loop. 2. Drive slowly and carefully. 3. Do not exit your car. If your child needs help, it is best to park and walk. 4. Move all the way forward. Do not hold up traffic by stopping in the middle of the loop. 5. Ask for help from the teacher/admin on duty if you cannot find your child. Honking is not advised. Remember, it's a school zone. Safety is the highest priority.

Did you know that your child can access their eTextbooks for ELA and Math through Path To Excel? Your child can only access if they are given permission to use Google Apps for Education. Here are the steps for students: 1) Students need to go to: 2) Students login with their Google Apps account (Username: Student First Name + Birthdate (Four Digit Month/Day)), 3) Once students have logged in, they can access eTextbooks and Library.

There are many parent groups, but there is only one PTA – Parent Teacher Association. Connecting families, schools and communities for almost 120 years, PTA is the largest children's advocacy association in the country and the defining organization for family engagement.
