Physical Education

Physical Education is an extremely important part of all student's academic curriculum. Our goal is to create lifelong habits of physical activity and meet the California State Standards along the way. This includes each class running a timed mile weekly to develop the heart, lungs, and stamina. We also include daily strength exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. We offer a variety of sports for 3 week segments. During each unit we strive to have the students enjoy each sport/activity and learn the rules as well as improve their teamwork and leadership skills. With 5 different qualified PE teachers and countless activities and sports, throughout the 4 semesters that students take part in, there is a high likelihood that they will find a physical activity that they will take with them long after middle school. Proper exercise helps with sleep, reduces stress and anxiety, fights obesity, develops confidence and motor skills.

P.E. Expectations

Every student is expected to dress daily in the proper P.E. attire and participate with maximum personal effort.  Each student starts with a grade of 100%. When infractions occur there are point deductions. Infractions include, but are not limited to clothes cuts (not dressing out), tardies, misbehavior, obvious lack of effort, not turning in an assignment, not having PE notebook on days required ie: mile days.

Medical Excuses

All physical limitations must be authorized by a doctor. Parents may excuse their child from P.E. for three days. After three days, a note is required by the student's physician.
