🎬 Electromagnetic Spectrum Fashion Show: Science Meets Creativity

The Electromagnetic Spectrum Fashion Show is student-centered, project-based learning experience that connects science instruction with creative expression. As part of their science coursework, students study the electromagnetic spectrum and apply their understanding by designing fashion pieces inspired by concepts, such as wavelength, frequency, energy, and visible and non-visible light.

Through this interdisciplinary project, students use critical thinking to translate abstract scientific concepts into visual designs, explain the science behind their work, and communicate their learning in an engaging, real-world format. The video highlights how students demonstrate both scientific understanding and creativity, showing families that this experience is much more than a traditional fashion show.

🥬 Hydroponic Farming & Lunch Production

In October 2025, students at Quimby Oak Middle School participated in a hands-on hydroponic farming project where they grew lettuce and snap peas that will be served in the school cafeteria. This student-led elective, part of the Evergreen School District’s Fork Farms nutrition and STEM program, engages learners in sustainable food production, nutrition education, and real-world application of science and problem-solving skills. Students monitored systems, tended crops, and explored concepts like plant growth, nutrient delivery, and healthy eating through active participation.
