Special Services

Building a solid foundation of basic skills is essential for all to become successful contributors to society.  All students have the ability to learn in their own way.   These courses are designed to meet the individual needs of each and every student.  Our goal is for every student to meet their individual goals as stated in their IEP, while also meeting district and state standards according to their ability and level of performance. 

Courses

Basic Language Arts (RSP/SDC)

This course is designed to not only work toward the common core standards, but also improve students’ basic foundational skills in reading comprehension and written expression.  Some concepts we will be covering may include, but not limited to:  Reading Comprehension Strategies, Vocabulary Development, Narrative and Expository Writing, Written Conventions, and Literary Analysis, Individual Student Goals as stated in their IEPs. 
 

Basic Math (RSP/SDC)

This course is designed to work toward the common core standards in addition to improving basic foundational skills in mathematics.  Some concepts we will be covering include, but are not limited to:  basic math facts, Algebraic Reasoning, Integers, Proportions, Graphing, Solving Equations, Real World Problems, Individual Student Goals as stated in their IEPs.
 

Basic Science (SDC)

This course is designed to work toward the common core standards in addition to improving understanding of basic foundational skills in science.  Some concepts we will be covering include, but are not limited to:  Life Science.
 

Basic Social Studies/History (SDC)

This course is designed to work toward the common core standards in addition to improving understanding of basic foundational skills in the social sciences and history.  Some concepts we will be covering include, but are not limited to:  World History and US History.
 

Basic Reading (SDC)

This course is designed to work toward improving basic reading skills.  Some concepts we will be covering include:  Reading Fluency and Reading Comprehension.

 

Services

Speech

Speech services are highly specialized instructions to help bridge the gap caused by identified delays or disorders.  These areas include articulation, receptive language, expressive language, social pragmatic language, speech fluency, and voice.
 

Academic Counseling

Our school counselor, Mrs. Stapleton, provides academic counseling and advising with students who need extra support with executive functioning tasks. She assists with planning, organizing, and breaking down large assignments into manageable parts to support students' success. Meetings could be individual or in small groups as needed depending on the task.
