Welcome to Quimby Oak Wrestling! 🤼 Our program is built on the foundations of discipline, physical conditioning, and mental toughness. Competing in the East Side Athletic League, we take pride in developing athletes who are as resilient as they are strategic. Wrestling is a unique sport that balances individual accountability with team success, teaching our Lobos the value of hard work, leverage, and persistence both on and off the mat.

Participation Requirements

All student athletes must meet the following requirements to participate in our athletic program.

Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0. No Ds, Fs, or U citizenship grades. Grades will be checked at the 1st Quarter Progress Report.
Have appropriate insurance coverage
Submit all required forms, which are all handled through the online registration portal:

✔️ Online Registration: Must be submitted prior to the tryout date.
✔️ Parent Permission Slip: Completed digitally during registration.
✔️ Concussion Information Slip: Signed digitally by both parent and student

Tryouts

Athletes who do not meet the participation requirements listed above will not be permitted to participate in tryouts for safety and liability reasons.

Tryout Schedule: Begins October 6, 2025. Monday - Friday from 2:45pm - 4:45pm at Room 1 (Wrestling Room).
Selection: Wrestling is a coed, no-cut sport.
Attire: Come dressed in PE cloths—shorts, T-shirt, and tennis shoes are required. Wrestling or basketball shoes are recommended for practice but not required.

Practice

Meets

Matches are coed, meaning both boys and girls compete in gender-specific weight classes.
Dual meets typically feature individual matches by weight class, followed by team scoring to determine meet winners.
Middle school matches consist of three periods totaling approximately 4.5 minutes:
- Period 1: 1.5 minutes in neutral position
- Period 2: 1 minute, wrestler’s choice of position
- Period 3: 1 minute, opposite start
- If tied, wrestlers enter a one-minute sudden victory period, then two 30-second tiebreaker periods if still tied.
Weigh-ins are 30 minutes prior to the 3:30pm start time.
